Let's face it, education isn't cheap, but it can be inexpensive! Horizon Health Care Institute has several financial aid options for students, and each one of them is customized to meet your financial needs. Please see the FAQs listed below as one or more of the questions you have may be included. If you have a specific question not listed here, please feel free to contact our Student Services Center.
Am I able to use my Pell Grant at HHCI?
Not at this time. While HHCi is a licensed school in Arizona, we are not an accredited school; therefore, we are not eligible to receive federal student financial aid.
Am I able to apply for a student loan to use at HHCI?
Not at this time. Federal student loans are only available to accredited institutions.
I have checked around at other schools like HHCI and see that the other schools are charging a lot more money. Why is it that HHCI's prices are so much lower?
HHCI has opted to keep tuition rates low so students are able to afford their education. Many schools with higher tuition rates NEED to charge those rates because of their accreditations. Accrediting agencies require programs to be a certain number of hours, and since HHCI is non-accredited, we don't have to offer students as many hours (we believe the number of hours we have designated for our classes provides the skills and knowledge neccessary to enter the workforce...where one can start to earn money).
I'm pretty sure I can afford to make payments toward my tuition, how does this work?
Students may be offered several flexible payment plans through HHCI. Students can contact our Student Services Center for more details.
I am dependent on government assistance. Am I eligible for financial aid through a governement agency?
It's quite possible you may qualify for tuition assistance through a government agency. We've had students who were able to obtain funds through ARBOR (a funding source through DES), Cochise County Workforce Development (CCWD), and Vocational Rehab Services (DES). Check with your case manager at the government office that handles your services.
I lost a job recently and know that health care is the right choice for me. Are there funds available for me?
Are there any financial aid options for me as a military spouse?
Yes there are! The MyCAA program was established to assist military spouses with financial aid for education related to portable careers (how much more portable can health care be?). Please visit the MyCAA website for more information, or contact our Student Services Center.
I'm not a military spouse, but I am a military dependent. Is there a financial aid option for me?
I'm eligible for education benefits through the Montgomery GI Bill. Does HHCI accept this as a funding source?
Not at this time. The Montgomery GI Bill is only available to accredited institutions.
I'm eligible for education benefits through the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Does HHCI accept this as a funding source?
Not at this time; however, the Post-9/11 GI Bill has recently adopted changes which expand the education opportunities to military personnel and their families. These changes are supposed to take place August 1, 2011 (available as a benefit as of October 1, 2011) and will include certificate programs (like ours at HHCI). We are in the application process at this time with the Veteran's Administration and will post our acceptance as soon as it's been approved.
I'm currently working at a health care establishment in a supportive position (housekeeping, laundry, dietary, maintenance, etc.) and would like to advance into a position by getting educated in one of the fields HHCI offers training. Do you think my employer would pay my tuition?
There's a good possibility your employer would pay your tuition (or a portion of it anyway). We've had many students sponsored by health care establishments. Check with your supervisor to see if your employer has a tuition assistance program.
WE ACCEPT ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS!
