The purpose of the Medical Transcription course is to educate students to listen to recordings from doctors and other medical professionals, and translate the recordings into written reports consistent with medical transcription standards commonly practiced in the medical community.

How much does the Medical Transcription program cost?
The tuition for this program is $695.00

Is there financial assistance to pay the tuition?
Yes.  We have a variety of payment plan options available. Additionally, individuals may qualify for assistance through numerous agencies (i.e. military spouses may qualify for funding through the MyCAA tuition assistance program; displaced workers and those who meet financial eligibility may qualify for tuition assistance through Cochise County Workforce Development; individuals currently working for an agency may qualify for tuition assistance through their employer, etc.).  For questions related to financial assistance, please give us a call or stop by our Student Services Center.

Do I have to have a high school diploma or GED to take this class?
Yes. 

Is there a minimum age requirement for this course?
Yes.  One must be at least 18 to take this course.

Are there any pre-requisites for this course?
No.

Do I have to take a placement test?
Yes.  HHCI uses the Scholastic Level Exam prepared by Wonderlic Education Solutions.  The exam is issued online using the designated computer in the Student Services Center.  Students wishing to enroll in the Medical Transcription training program must score a minimum of 17 on the placement exam to be eligible for enrollment.

Is there a fee to take the placement test?
Yes.  The Scholastic Level Exam fee is $10.00 (non-refundable).

If I don't score a minimum of 17 on the Scholastic Level Exam will I be able to retake it?
Yes.  There will be a $10.00 fee each time you take the exam.

Are there any other placement requirements for this program?
Yes.  Individuals in this course must have an active email account and access to a computer for the online portion.

Once I'm enrolled, how long will the training take?
The program is a total of 60 hours.  HHCI offers this course via blended delivery method with scheduled classroom hours.  Check with the Student Services Center for an updated list of in-class schedules.

Once I've completed the training program will I be certified?
At this time, Arizona is a non-certified State in regards to medical transciptionists.  Students successfully completing the Medical Transcription program will receive a Certificate of Achievement from HHCI.
